Under City Records Expands Free Digital Distribution Catalog

The mission of Under City Records is to make all good music as easily available as possible for all means of personal music consumption. That is, whether you prefer a gatefold double LP, good ol' fashioned CD's, YouTube videos, internet radio, or downloading digital music, you should be able to get what you need. Continuously recognizing and addressing new channels of music distribution and listening platforms, the goal is to deliver good music into the ears of as many good people as possible.

It is simply to embrace the idea of digital music piracy. Aware that millions of songs have been downloaded "illegally", we want to establish a legitimate way to keep the massive free market inertia rolling. Picture this; there is this guy (or gal) who downloads entire discographies of bands that they had never heard of just to see if they like the music. Say this person likes the music they downloaded, and they then go on to buy one of the artist's albums on vinyl, or on CD, or on iTunes, and maybe they even go to see the band live at a show or at a concert. Maybe this person now listens to these newly heard of artists on a regular basis on their iPod or on an internet radio account such as Pandora or Spotify. As for the bands that this person did not like, the music was simply deleted; no harm no foul. If the "illegegally" downloaded songs intrigued the person enough to cause them to see the band perform live, and that band just so happened to put on the most amazing live performance that this person had ever experienced, then that band just earned themselves a supportive life-long fan all because of "illegal" file sharing. Recognizing that different people listen to music in different ways and that the degree to which each person is involved with the music can differ drastically, we believe that free music will undoubtedly still remain as one of the best marketing tools to gain bands exposure and to potentially create supportive fans. Even if some people only download the music and never support the band, chances are they would not have been the kind of people who buy a vinyl, CD, or digital download as their first listen for a band anyway. Regardless of listeners supporting the acts or not, the bands are still reaching more ears and given more chances of creating fans through the free music model than if we all of the music was kept reserved only for those willing to pay.

Under City Records has and will continue to allow all music to be downloaded for free in an effort to get the bands heard by as many people as possible. The label's entire discography can be found on our website. With that in mind, we are constantly presenting new additions to the UCR free online digital distribution catalog.

Indiana Hardcore - SHUT THE FUCK UP!

Yet another tough-as-nails hardcore band is emerging from the infamous Midwest region of the United States. SHUT THE FUCK UP features ex-members of Blood In/Blood Out, Hard To Kill, as well as other Midwest tyrants, along with a current member of Beresith. STFU are as rowdy as they are heavy. With songs like "Down With The Devil", "Animal", "Depression", and "Dirty 30 Annihilator ", this Indiana hardcore band fuses punk, with old school hardcore, laced with grimy and evil lyrics that proves the band name as nothing more than being worthy! Shut The Fuck Up are loud, aggressive, and , frankly, doesn't give a damn.

A full demo can be downloaded for free via Under City Records.

Beresith Reveals Two Tracks from New Album

Beresith's first album "Lurker" is set to be released late 2012, until then, two new songs have been released on BandCamp and YouTube.

"Ghetto Machete" is the first track on the album, and a hell of a song to start with at that. The track jumps right into a no bullshit death metal riff that stabs right through the dual wielding vocals. The solid mix of death metal and black metal elements do no tire as the song leads to a dramatic and dissonant almost-doom-metal ending. For a running time of 2:35, "Ghetto Machete" manages to sever every limb first time through.

"Manifest Blasphemy" is the last and eighth track on the album, and certainly does not disappoint. Recuperating from where the title track, "Lurker", leaves off, "Manifest Blasphemy" builds tension as haunting black metal blasts lead into multiple purely devastating death metal riffs. To top it off, the song, and damn near the entire album, reaches terminal velocity as both guitars split up to form a melodic chain of chords that explode into the heaviest of all riffs on the album. Check em' both out for yourself and stay posted for the release date, to which the album will be for sale on CD and available for free download in its entirety via Under City Records.

Northwest Indiana black/death metal mutilators, BERESITH, are recording the band's first, full-length album with Andrew Ragin of THE ATLAS MOTH at the Wall to Wall Recording Studio in Chicago, IL in February of 2012. The debut album entitled "LURKER" will have eight tracks and will be released via UNDER CITY RECORDS Summer 2012.

Beresith's debut album entitled "Lurker" has finished being mastered by Alan Douches (Cannibal Corpse, BTBAM, Death, Suffocation) at West West Side Music. With a total of 8 tracks, a running-time of 27 minutes; "Lurker" is Beresith's first album, as well as the first album to be released on Under City Records. Both Beresith and UCR could not be more excited about how well this death metal/black metal marauding beast-of-an-album came out. The record is to be released on CD/digital in late 2012. A limited pressing of 500 vinyl will eventually follow at a later date.
